WHO declares spread of monkeypox an international public health emergency

It's the deadliest viral outbreak since COVID-19. Despite the overall global risk remaining low, with more than 16,000 confirmed cases and at least five fatalities, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the monkeypox outbreak a "public health emergency of international concern."
