Are they the canaries?

We must make space for the experiences of people with multiple chemical sensitivities. People with chemical sensitivities seem to be allergic to the world. What, if anything, can be done for them? Xi Chen, a medical student, explores why medicine cannot yet shed light on the physiological mechanisms that explain multiple chemical sensitivities. But practitioners and the rest of society must still meet patients with empathy and acceptance.
