Goods can only reach the communities by air or – when the Arctic Ocean thaws – by sea. In Canada's Arctic territories, the frozen ocean and remote location mean even basic household goods are extortionately expensive. So when Amazon Prime started offering goods at regular prices with free delivery, life for Nunavut's inhabitants was transformed. Thomas Rohner writing in the Guardian explains.
